Foundations of Stewardship

A sacred, one-retreat journey guided by Keith Clark-Hoyos to reframe money as ministry, align budgets with calling, and build trust in every decision.

Welcome to Financial Leadership Formation

Foundations of Stewardship

A sacred, one-retreat journey guided by Keith Clark-Hoyos to align money with mission and build trust.

Financial leadership is ministry. As Retreat 1 in the Financial Leadership Formation journey, Foundations of Stewardship is offered as one full day or two half-day sessions. It invites treasurers, finance committees, and pastors to reframe money as a spiritual matter, connect budgets to calling, and establish trust-building practices that strengthen the church’s witness.

Financial decisions do more than allocate resources. They reveal how a community understands responsibility, authority, care, and the mission it has been entrusted to carry.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
— Luke 12:34 (NIV)

Why This Journey Exists

A Foundational Journey with Keith Clark-Hoyos

Church finances touch every ministry and reflect how a congregation carries its shared responsibilities. Foundations of Stewardship helps leaders place calling at the center of financial decisions, recognize the assumptions shaping their practices, and root stewardship in prayerful discernment. Guided by Keith Clark-Hoyos, your team will clarify purpose, review bylaws and policies for alignment, and develop practical patterns that support transparency, accountability, and trust.

What do our current financial practices communicate about our calling, responsibilities, and care for one another?

What You’ll Experience

Building a Foundation for Faithful Financial Ministry

The Sacred Process

  • Money as a Spiritual Matter — Reframe finances through prayer and Scripture; name the emotions and habits that shape stewardship.

  • Calling Over Budget — Map budgets to mission using simple tools that make your vision plain and actionable.

  • Reframing Financial Mindsets — Move from scarcity to abundance in how you plan, communicate, and invite generosity.

  • Bylaws, Policies, & Trust — Review governance essentials (e.g., dual signatures, conflict of interest) that protect leaders and resources.

  • Aligning Practices with Calling — Use the CER(D) lens (Calling–Energy–Resources–Discernment) to align day-to-day procedures with God’s vision.

  • Two half-day sessions (scheduled 1–2 weeks apart)
